the inner game of tennis is more about life than tennis

merry xmas lil bees

hi lil bees! happy holidays and merry x-mas to those who celebrate šŸŽ„šŸŽ…

I know I said I wouldnā€™t be back till the new year, but in times of relaxation, creativity is sparking. So rather than restrict myself to a schedule to write, Iā€™m just opening my Leuchtturm1917 to write down streams of consciousness as they pop into my head.

And multiple streams of thought have sparked from my recent trip to Barnes & Noble. I spotted The Inner Game of Tennis by W. Timothy Gallwey and knew I had to read it as a former tennis player.

Lucky me, I didnā€™t realize it received raving reviews, so to say I was giddy to read is an understatement. Itā€™s not just a book for tennis players, itā€™s a book for learning how to learn.

You may be thinking, oh another self-improvement book. As someone who has read a lot of those books, I found this book takes on another voice.

It has a gentler tone. It doesnā€™t prescribe the type of life you need to live. It doesnā€™t force you to subscribe to one definition of success. It almost feels like a spiritual book without speaking once about religion.

And thatā€™s when a few things clicked for me:

  • how self-educating myself in the arts helped me trust my self 2 (and tell my self 1 to shut the f up)

  • why I find most financial education is not effective today

  • why you donā€™t need to know everything (the power of the word ā€œletā€ vs. ā€œshouldā€)

Pieces to come soon but itā€™s the holidays. Iā€™ll just leave you all with the following quote that starts the book

sending you all a lot of warm hugs over the holiday break, xxx.

until the next šŸ  and with šŸ’› ,

Sneha
